In the 9th century, Emma, a 17-year-old girl, is appointed Abbess to repopulate and Christianize frontier lands caught in conflict with the Moors.
Upon arriving at the abbey, she must overcome the distrust provoked by a young woman determined to fulfill her mission, forcing her to confront nobles, peasants, and even the nuns themselves.
Against all odds, Emma proves that it is possible to challenge the established structures of power.
But doing so will come at a high price.
